	Josie        DOB appx April/May 2008. DSH black with white toes on her back feet, and a tiny spot of white on her chest.  Josie was in a very bad home then dumped on the street where we found her. She has learned to trust us to handle her nicely, and can be picked up now, and be petted. She was tame, just had not been handled nicely.    Josie loves attention, she is skittish about it if you are standing. However, if you are sitting, she's all over you!  She is one of those kitties who does flips and rolls around when you are petting her, silly girl!!     Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Aunt Bea   DOB appx Feb 2004, DSH black and white tux, was pregnant and a great mom PLUS a surrogate mom to 2 motherless kittens. Bea loves affection and gets along great with other cats. Since her kittens were weaned and placed, and she got spayed, she has filled out very nicely.             UPDATE: May 2010: Bea is an older cat now and we have noticed some wheezing as she breathes, she may have a growth in her nose so we are taking her to the vet.     Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Sapphire  UPDATE: DOB approx 2008? Spayed female DMH orange and white with blue eyes aka Ojos Azule!              She was found outside in the court yard of a senior day care center. One of the workers was feeding her and was able to pet her and get her on her lap. When the management found out there was an animal on property she had to go. She called PAWS. She is highly unusual because you don't find orange cats with blue eyes. We had to see for ourselves. Sure enough when we went to check it out, true as could be she was an orange female with big blue eyes. We took her in to foster her and find her a forever home. She was very thin and dirty. Boy when she cleaned up she was just beautiful. Her face reminds me of the innocent face that Puss in Boots gives on Shrek. She is still timid but I am working on that. She likes to talk to me when I enter the room.  When I pick her up she just curls up in a ball.  She does the same thing on my lap. 	Kinobi DOB appx 5/26/07, DSH black and white male. Tizzi and Kinobi were found at a Melbourne apt/condo area where maintenance had been directed to take them to the county shelter. They were BOTTLE fed by PAWS from 10 days old. So they are extra sweet! Kinobi is very loving & likes to sleep in your lap or on the back of the couch. 	Nick DOB appx Feb 2004, DSH blue and cream mackeral tabby and white. Very sweet cat, was in a kill shelter adoption room and they ran out of room so his number was up. He is VERY friendly, outgoing and loving. This is one of our favorite cats. We held him back from adoption events because when he got here he would stress and overgroom, so he was almost hairless on his tummy.  We took him to the vet and moved him to a less stressful foster area.  His coat filled in and he is gorgeous.   Nick prefers to get attention without being picked up (he's a big boy anyway so he's heavy).     He has fabulous green eyes and we have tried and tried to sneak up on him with the camera but he acts like a movie star and turns the other way - until the other day - we finally got him looking at the camera.       Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Alanan                                  DOB 2004, DSH spayed tortoiseshell tabby tuxedo (wow that's a mouthful....). Alanan had a great home then the owner passed away, so she is back in foster care. She is a little shy for a day or so around strangers, then she's fine. OK with other cats. She had been adopted with Savanna (listed on our Older Cat Adoptions page), now they are both back. Alanan is a little timid but is okay once she knows you. 	Lila DOB appx 2006, DSH shiny black coat! Gorgeous spayed female. Lila was found dumped on the street in the same place as Collier was, with the same kind of injury. (hmmm) Lila had a cut under her armpit so those take awhile to fully knit. It is completely healed (took several months). She was hungry and scared, now she has filled out and looks like a completely different cat! She weighs in now at a whopping 17 pounds.  OK with other cats, she typical female cat personality (needs her space occasionally). She loves attention so it is really hard to get a picture of her, she is constantly walking toward the human holding the camera!  Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Deco DOB appx June 2006 (best guess), DSH black & white spayed female, with left eartip (this means she was living on the street). Deco was turned in at the animal shelter, and because she tested FIV+ she was going to be put to sleep. FIV isn't a big deal, we have lots of vets, foster moms, and previous adopters who agree. See the Cornell University website for more info or links on our Helpful Information page. Deco is very loving and sweet, and has interesting markings. She sure has come out of her shell now!  Deco LOVES to be petted, will turn herself inside out coming back for more attention. Her favorite is having her face and forehead rubbed and scratched. 	Baby DOB 2007, DSH smoke female, very small build, petite and lanky. Beautiful green eyes!  Obviously has a little siamese in her from her lanky build, and she talks a little (her vocals sure did calm down after being spayed).   She is fine being picked up - even by strangers. She loves to play chase with our dog! Baby was turned in at the county shelter and we fell in love with her outgoing attitude toward things. From what the shelter staff said, she was pulled from a hoarding situation. Her smoke color is actually a rare color - we love kitties this color but most people don't know what we are talking about!!!  We have several kitties lately who are this color: Baby, Pretty Girl, Widget, and Joshua.   The deal with a smoke color is, they LOOK black, but with a closer look, they are actually more of a charcoal grey color with almost-black stripes. What you do is, rub the fur BACKWARDS and you will see underneath it is not dark, it's WHITE!  That's a true smoke color, when the reverse fur color is white. 	Breanna Meow, I’m Breanna. My foster mom calls me: Brea-Brea because I hang out with Gigi and Mimi (see Mimi’s bio) at my foster home.  She can call me what she wants as long as she doesn't call me Late for Dinner.  I am a 2 year old, female who is usually quiet as a mouse, but occasionally, I like to chat. I'll chirp for attention or for my morning yum-yums. I live with 2 other patch tabbies (see Paco Bandito’s Bio) so occasionally, I’ll use catouflage to fool my foster mom into giving me another treat! I get along with all of my cat housemates, but I’m especially bonded to the young playful cats in my household. On the first day of meeting, we were playing soccer in the living room and now we make an evening game of it. I am very social, not only with other cats, but, especially with people. I have velvet fur and petting me will immediately relax you and it is a service I am very happy to provide. I will immediately tank and let you rub my belly.  I follow my foster mom from room to room and I play Marco Polo with her; when I loose sight of her, I will call out with my special chirpy meow until she calls back, then I come running. Yea, I could look through all the rooms for her but where’s the fun in that? At dinnertime, I’ll sit in an open chair, I never get a plate but I’m still waiting for the day she decides to serve me. At night, I sleep next to my foster mom with all the other cats. I’m polite, I don’t walk on anyone but I do like to snuggle, and sometimes I steal a pillow if you’re not looking. What? It's my size, of course it's made for me to sleep on! I have excellent house manners, when I’m told ‘no’, I listen and obey. I am a sweet and tender soul. I am looking for a home with a playmate, I would be completely bored with no other cats, I enjoy running around and chasing stuff, it’s what I do. 	Taffi DOB appx January 2009, DSH brown mackeral tabby tuxedo.  Spayed female & vaccinated as of 1/26/10.  Very sweet - let me tell you this story! Usually rescuers are women, you know. Well, over time those husbands do get trained. It takes years, but they do soak up something! LOL  So...my husband was taking his evening walk and saw this kitty come out of the woods, and head right into traffic. Just trotting down the street, not a care in the world, and headed right for a car.....she darted out of the way just in time....so of course my wonderfully triained husband scooped her up, and walked 3/10 of a mile home with her, she was OK being held - at night, walked by a stranger, all that way!  Does that tell you anything about her super sweet personality!!! As for her personality, we can tell she was with other cats. However she does like to stay "up" on furniture and away from the other cats.  Dunno if she was chased away by other cats or something.   Taffi is currently not a lapcat, again that could be because so many cats want our lap and she stays aloof from other cats, but loves humans!   In the pictures she was very curious about the camera, it was really hard to get her to back away for a full body picture!  So her head looks really big in some of them because she kept sticking her face up to the lens ....    Contact Mona at : [email protected]
	Cricket DOB appx 4/18/09, dilute tortie, mostly grey with a big beige spot on her face.  Spayed female. Very playful and high energy, thus her name!!  Cricket was pulled from kill room at eau gallie.    We cannot believe Cricket is not adopted yet. She's the last of the litter of 7 we pulled June 10, 2009. She knows her name, is petite (will probably be a 7 pound kitty). OK being held. 	Dusty              Dusty is from the cute litter of four born about April 5, 2009. Their mom gave birth to them in a roof over hang in a neighbor's house. When the little guys started walking around the gutters, the owners decided it was time to pull them out and call PAWS. Mama kitty took very good care of these little rolly pollies. They are very healthy and cute as could be. Sibling to Dapple, Flicker, and Tiddles, who have been adopted.                  Dusty is DSH white with brown tabby patches, and he has a white blaze down his nose.  He is a very social boy and will chirp to let you know he is happy. He likes to play with feathers. He will carry one around as if it is alive for hours and talk about it.  He is good with dogs and would be great with children.                             Contact Lynn at: [email protected]
	Mandie DOB appx 3/15/09, DSH-DMH tortie tuxedo. Spayed Female. Mistyh as white on her nose, chest and feet.  She was found in the parking lot at Publix on SR524 in Cocoa. The person called around and was sent to NACC which is the county (kill) shelter. She was upset to learn this shelter has only a 2% adoption rate so we agreed to pull the kitten.   Mandie is sweet and a little timid after being in a cage at NACC. She was also caged here due to URI but she is over that now so we are letting her out with the others to play. She is a little timid of noise, so we are suggesting she have a home without very young children. We are working with her on being picked up, she is improving daily, it's a trust factor. UPDATE: Mandie is lots better with noise, new people, and being picked up.   We finally got some better pictures of her. She has alot of white on her face so the flash really reflects off her face, it's hard to get a pic of her beautiful colors because of that! The pic on the purple carpet shows her colors the best. Update: Due to Mandie's chronic URI from being at the county shelter, she has intense nasal passage scarring and will always 'snore' when she breathes.       Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Miley DOB appx April 17, 2009 DSH dilute tortie, spayed female. Miley was very loving as a kitten and is more aloof now that she is grown. We think if she gets into a home with less distractions of other cats, she will bond again with humans and be less aloof.  We recently had her caged to treat her for diarrhea (she's firm now) and she was very friendly one-on-one.      Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Rorie DOB appx 3/15/09, DSH brown torbie. This color means she is brown with orange (instead of the typical black with orange).  The word 'torbie' is short for 'tortoiseshell tabby'.  (yes because that's alot to say every time).  If the cat has even one stripe at all, it's called a torbie. If there are no stripes, it's are a tortie.  DOH! This litter was found in the woods in Cocoa.  Sibling to Scout, Debo, Drake, who have been adopted.  She is a typical tortie, growly for the first couple of days.  She tends to keep to herself so she would be okay going alone to a home. She is very independent and so you can only hold her for short times. It's on 'her' terms!!!  And...this litter looks and jumps like they have some Abyssinian in them! 	Ferily   DOB appx 2008 or 2009. DMH / Maine Coon mix spayed female. I have actually had this cat in my home since September 2009, and it's quite the story!! Just now (March 2010) listing her for adoption....Here is Ferily's Story!!! As most of our PAWS "followers" and adopters know, I manage several (5) feral cat colonies around the Cocoa area. If you have "established" colonies, the cats are all fixed and you watch like a hawk at feeding time for newcomers. What you don't want is that newly-dumped (and scared to death) female getting pregnant or giving birth before you can get her spayed!! You also want to catch the new ones (chances are they are tame) before they revert to the wild, which takes about 3 months. If they are tame you can have them vetted and find them a new home.      At one of my colonies where I had recently gotten the population under control, I see this new cat. Due to the medium fur I had no clue if it was male or female. So 50/50 chance of female and I wanted to get her trapped right away. She was new, so possibly tame, and she looked very hungry. I had a trap in the car so I set it up with some yummy canned food, and she was an easy one, I practially pushed her in!! A couple of days later I got a vet appointment to get her spayed. The vet said the cat was very, very thin and could I hold the cat to fatten her up a little before re-releasing her to the feral colony? Of course I agreed. The trick is to use a large enough trap to hold a small litterpan at one end, and food/water at the other.     After a couple of days I realized 3 things - she was tame (and probably recently dumped), why she was thin, and why she was dumped (probably). She had some horrific and violent diarrhea. Yep, that'll do it in most homes. The area I got her from is Section 8 housing so tempers are short, and so is money for vet care. So, off we went to the vet. Oh boy was this an uphill battle. It took me 3 months to stabilize her poo, and each day I would have quite a mess in that cage to clean up. Our paper towel budget about doubled. Finally I got the hint to put paper towels under the litterpan and that made it easier to clean up, because they absorbed any watery "spills". Ahem. Well, after she got stabilized, I let her out of the cage. Yes, she is tame. To a point. She was in a home where (most likely) she did not get alot of positive attention. So she is just a touch skittish until she trusts you. Food wins her over every time!!! She's actually quite a nice girl who is ok being picked up by people she trusts. So, she's not feral, but I had to give her a name to get her on the "roster" at the vet for her fecals and meds to correct her little gut problem. Thus her name Ferily. (derived from the word "feral" on the fly at the vet) I don't want to have to put her back out in that Section 8 housing area, she's having SO MUCH FUN here, she plays like you have never seen....I think she's one of those cats who didn't have a good "childhood" so she's making up for it now! 	Tinkerbell    DOB approx 5yrs 2005 DMH solid Grey Maine Coon Mix.  Tinkerbell was found in Cape Canaveral by a citizen with a collar and tags. She was taken to the County Shelter in hopes that her owner was looking for her. No one came to claim her. When the numbers from the tags that were on her collar were called, all were disconnected. How sad. She had been left behind. She is such a lovely cat.  She curls up next to me at night. She loves to give kisses and will roll over for a belly rub if you are willing. 	Maya I'm Maya linda!  I am an indoor/outdoor 3 year old female tabby cat.  I wandered into a colony of feral cats even though I was tame.  I wasn't able to get any food as I'm a gentle soul and the feral cats were very mean to me.  Now I live with my foster mom, I like napping inside but I must have my outdoor playtime.  I need a house with a fenced in yard or a courtyard, I need daily sunshine!  I have a little mainecoon in me, so I don't meow, I trill.  I love to be petted and I sleep next to my owner, not on top of her.  I love kids and let them pick me up and play with me, little people are cool.  I'm ok with dogs when dogs are cool with me.  I hang out at my neighbors house, they let me in for kibbles and attention, I'm a very outgoing and friendly cat, I love to meet & greet and their cats don't mind that I stop by for some snax.       If you have a home that needs entertainment, I'm your cat, I'm everyone's favorite when they come by to visit, they love the way I embody the independent catitude but then roll around belly up for affection.  I am great with 2 or less cats but my foster mom has 9 cats!  I need more space, please adopt me! 	Roxanne        DOB approx 2008.  DSH spayed female.  Roxanne is a sweet little lady rescued from the local shelter very pregnant.  She gave birth and was the best mom in the world to her babies (Ellie and Sabrina who were adopted)!  Now she needs a loving and wonderful home too.  Roxanne is beautiful, a striking calico with a white chest and white feet.  But also colored like a tortie.  She is sweet and quiet and would do best in a quieter home without small children.  She is very social and loving as well.  (She always blinks for pictures...so this is the best picture of her, she is even more gorgeous in person!)             Contact Shannon at: [email protected]
	Spencer    DOB approx mid 2009.  DSH Turkish Van neutered male.  My name is Spencer and I am the sweetest, most loving guy you'll ever meet!  I am very social and love attention and hugs.  I like to sit with you and be close to people.  I am a lap cat most of the time.  I am also very playful and fun, and I love toys -  I am still quite the kitten.  I am pretty handsome too with my beautiful white coat and only my tail and a spot on my head is a striking tabby!  Need a good buddy or someone to keep you company?  I am the one!             Contact Shannon at: [email protected]
	Julian DOB (best guess) 2005. DSH brown tabby & white neutered male. This is the sweetest cat...If all cats were this nice, then every cat would definitely be adopted. Julian was living on the street and was brought to a feral/stray cat spay/neuter clinic. He was fixed and vaccinated (and eartipped for a life on the street). The volunteers noticed he had skin mites, and some eye inflammation, so one of the PAWS foster moms agreed to take him and treat him. He is fine now and had no problems since!  That was Dec. 2007. Julian was adopted in 2008, and the children were carrying him around, which he had a problem with (the ribcage carrying method).  His family was sad to give him up but it was for the best as the children were young and this was the only way they could carry a cat.  They said other than that he is an AWESOME kitty who loves sharing your pillow at night. 	Paco Bandito Paco Bandito is my name, affection is my game.  I am a 3 year old, male patch tabby.  I was living with my mom, dad and 1 year old baby boy.  I was having the time of my life until my parents had to move to another state and could not take me along.  I was the only cat but now I live with 8 other cats and get along famously.  I'm polite, playful and affectionate.  I will meow for attention and as you walk by, I will assume to position so you can rub my belly or scratch my back.  I don't fight with the other housecats, I am docile and gentle and just enjoy relaxing. 	Purdy DOB approx 2008 DSH female Torbie. Purdy was dumped at a local utility plant. During the cold winter we had she tried to get warm by entering their storage buildings. After being run out of them she managed to get up in the drop ceiling in the main building. She began to meow because she wanted down and really caused a ruckus. The guys there were convinced that she was ferral because she didn't trust them so they trapped her. I convinced them to give her to me to prevent her from being dumped angain or taken to the pound. Turns out that she was just scared and hungry. She is the sweetest little cat. She has such a nurturing personality. She has taken my 12 yr old persian under her wing along with Zane and Zeva our newest tiny arrivals. I am so happy she ended up with us. She gets along with others wonderfully! 	Goldie        DOB approx June 2006 DSH Orange and White Tabby, spayed female.   Goldie was rescued from the local shelter when she was a little kitten.  She is now back in foster care because her family abandoned her.  She is a sweet, quiet girl.  She does love to be brushed and will sit with you.  She would do great as an only kitty, but has been around other cats too.  She's a little chubby, but that just means more to love!  She is waiting for her "furever" home.           Contact Shannon at: [email protected]
	Henry DOB appx August 2009, so he's about a year old (we just pulled him from the county shelter).  He's so friendly they had to hold his head still for the picture! DSH grey & white, neutered male, all shots up to date.  He has settled in just fine with the other cats. He is one of those kitties who wants to play and keeps going back for more despite another kitty smacking him!  He is ok with dogs. This is a great all around cat. 	Big Love My name is Big Love.  I am a 5 year old, male, Maine Coon which means I’m completely relaxed, totally affectionate, and very hairy!  I was rescued from the kill room at the local animal shelter after they found me abandoned in Palm Bay. My time was almost up, luckily a rescue group saved me before I could be euthanized. Since then, I've put on a few pounds (I'm about 16 pounds of lovin'), you know how it is, when you are happy and comfortable, sometimes you eat a little more....but I assure you, I only look humongous because of all my thick Maine Coon fur (ok, I have a small jelly belly). Actually I look like a petite bear with a long tail and whiskers.  I love to be a lap cat, my foster Mom picks me up, turns me over in her lap and rubs my belly.  Believe me, nothing feels better.  When I want down, I just give a little meow, if you don’t put me down, I don’t protest further, I just thought you should know.  In fact, that is the only time you will hear me, when I want to be put down, when I want the brushing to stop or when I notice the food bowl is empty.  Otherwise, I just sit back and chill. When it’s bed time, I’m right next to her all snuggled and sometimes she wakes up with my head next to hers on the pillow.  I now live with 8 other cats and have not had a single hissing match or altercation with any of them. I'm a lover not a fighter and the other cats can't get a rise out of me, so they just lounge next to me or move on. I don't believe in confrontations, I'm all about peace, love, harmony and getting brushed. I love the bed, I keep a spot warm for you just incase you want to take a siesta too. When you love on me, I will give you a kiss or a head bump just to let you know that I really, really love what you are doing and am very happy that you are doing it. I don't mind baths, yes, I would prefer not to have them, but I don't make a fuss if you give me one. I've lived with dogs, cats, and people, I love them all. Really, just put me in any home, I'll make myself comfortable and fit in with the crowd, no worries. I am a gently soul and would be ideal for seniors or children. 	Brownie                                 DOB approx March 2008 neutered male DSH havana brown mix. Sweet boy who would like a home to call his own. A victim of the economy, his parent lost her job and Brownie has gone to a foster home and is awaiting a new home. He would like a home without dogs as he is not a fan of them. He is sweet and loving and very well behaved. He would do well with other cats as he is used to living with them but also would do well as a single cat. His brown fur is striking and unusual. 	Mercie DOB appx August 2009, DSH spayed female, solid grey except for one teeny tiny spot of white on the right side of her neck.  She is very friendly and loves attention, she will paw at you if you walk by and try to ignore her!!!  She is fine with other cats. Would probably do OK with dogs. Loves to sleep with you. True blue lapcat!!! As you can see in the picture she can be totally relaxed, even though she was at the noisy county shelter. 	Cindy Lou   DOB appx 2004 (best guess), DSH tortoiseshell tuxedo. Spayed female. 22 pounds!!! She's a big'un! Cindy Lou is very sweet. Loves to be combed on her back where it is (obviously) harder for her to reach when grooming. She has her very own pink comb! She adjusted quite quickly here and wanted to be out of the guest bath (where we started her, isolated) within a couple of days. She is still hissing at the others, but less every day!!  Her owner could no longer keep her. She has been with other cats (see Sem, who was adopted from us and returned).   Here's what her owner has to say: She likes to eat all the time. She'll lay down and push the food out of the bowl with her paw toward herself. I'm giving her reduce calorie food and not always keeping the dish full. I've had her since 2006. 	Birba DOB 2006, DSH brown tabby spayed female. She was named by her Italian owner whom unfortunately, was suddenly called out of the country for work.  Her name in Italian means "Naughty" or as it is mostly used to reference children, one who is fun, full of surprises and has a lot of spirit. She is a very gentle girl, beautiful face, very athletic, loves to play, chase balls and is a low key kitty.  She is looking for a forever home or for someone to foster her until a home could be found.  She has been raised with her buddy, Frisbee whom she hopes she can stay with.  They have been together since they were 8-weeks old.  Birba has been updated on her shots and her Feline Leukemia test so she is ready to go.  We are not sure if she has been around children and dogs, and since she has had the same home for 4 years she will probably take some time to adjust to a new one.  Contact Mona at: [email protected]

Frisbee was born to a feral mother and is the best natured cat you could ask for.  He is very docile, never complains, very little meowing.  He is a perfect cat for someone who wants a companion that does not need a lot of attention.  He has big green eyes and a playful personality. He's perfect for also sharing the space of another cat or two.  Frisbee has been living with another 2 tabbies for all of his life so he enjoys the company of numerous cats.  His owner was called out of the country for work and had no idea whether he would be returning. Frisbee has been in a home with Birba. He would likely need some time to adjust to a new home considering he has been in the home since he was a kitten. Contact Mona at: [email protected]
	Dino                                    DOB approx August 2009.  Orange and white Maine Coon Persian mix neutered male.  Dino and his sister were dumped at the county shelter in March.  They had 24 hours to live before they killed them for a kitty cold.  PAWS rescued them and Dr. Karla McCloud took them for office cats.  The reason Dino needs to be placed is he has no fear of dogs and goes right up to them without knowing if they are friendly.  Dr. McCloud is afraid Dino will get hurt because of his fearlessness and wants him placed in a home.  He loves people, follows you all around, and is very social.   Can't go to a home with cats, young kids, or small dogs.           Contact Shannon at: [email protected]
