Description:

The owner of this very nice flame point neutered male passed away and he was given away "free" and the new owner could not keep up with the grooming. He was in a home with multiple cats including Fancy who is a purebred Persian we already placed.

We don't know what his name was, so we chose a name for him.

He is used to cats, and doesn't seem to be fazed by anything at all! We just got him and he's already checking out the room. He loves attention. He is fine with dogs, he is around a golden retriever and was not even the least bit concerned when the dog was sniffing him!

We got his shots updated because he came with no records. He went to the groomer already and she took care of a couple of mats around his face.

He is extremely curious and sweet. He weighs about 14 pounds. He has a very cute apple head and a barely smushy face.

He is definitely a purebred and has a VERY thick and VERY long coat so whoever adopts this guy would be best served to get him a lion cut every 6 months. This is alot of grooming and he cannot manage it himself. We are getting him a lion cut now so he will be more comfortable.

Look at that incredible tail, he has a huge tail plume!

We'll get more pictures soon with his new lion cut!

UPDATE: Scotch has been checked by two vets and both agree he is about 3 yrs old and has a grade 2 heart murmur. At this point all that means is he needs to be checked yearly to see if the heart murmur stays the same or gets any worse.

We just talked to the vet. She says the heart murmur is more like a grade 1 to 2, and that most of the time a kitty with this type murmur will live trouble-free from any complications. There is a chance though that it could worsen, and his pedigree increases the risk slightly. If it gets worse an Echocardiogram would be needed, which runs about $350. This will identify which section of the heart has the issue and appropriate medications can be dispensed. There is also a blood test which can help identify if there is a cardio issue, this test is $125.

The vet said the murmur was very hard to detect and she had to have the stethoscope in just the right place to hear it, so she didn't think it is going to grow into anything serious.

We found this website on feline heart murmurs - the last sentence says: For the most part, heart murmurs are not life threatening. Cats can outgrow them or surgery and/or medications can correct them.
