Description:
Sharpie was originally found walking up to a bunch of feral cats who had just been fed, the colony caregiver scooped him up and got him to a rescue group right away. The rescue group sent him to a local vet and adoption center.

Sharpie then came to us from the adoption center because they tested him and he was FIV+. Ends up they do not take FIV+ kitties. We think this is really odd because they are at a vet office and you'd think they would KNOW what we know... that FIV kitties do just great. You can see our link to FIV info on the home page.

Anyway, Sharpie then became very sick with a stiff neck and stiff limbs, come to find it it was probably Meningitis!  He is treated & well now, confirmed by the vets at Coastal Animal Hospital and declared ready to get vaccines and neutered, and then ok to be adopted.

After Coastal told us that, we got Sharpie fixed, vaccinated & he is ready to go!

Most FIV+ kittens test negative at 6 months, 99% of the time...so we expect Sharpie's new family to retest him to be sure.

Sharpie is having a great time in his foster home and getting used to the dog too, as you see in the video.

Sharpie has short-to-medium fur, and round huge eyes which are indicative of a Maine Coon mix. He is also extremely sweet, his foster mom calls him a "doll baby"!!!

PAWS adopts out kittens in pairs, or adopts to a home with another young kitty (3 years old, or so).

Here is why -- this is the best article we have found to explain:  http://meowcatrescue.org/resources/articles/12/single-kitten-syndrome/

If you are interested in adopting, please go to www.pawsfla.com and click on the Adoption Policy menu, from there you will find the online application link.

The adoption process typically goes as follows:
- you submit an application
- foster mom reviews, and will contact you by email
- upon approval, foster mom will coordinate an adoption location/time.... or your deposit to hold young kittens
- foster mom will email, call or text to coach as needed to help integrate your new kitty
