Description:
PAWS took in these kittens and their mom due to an urgent move situation where the landlord would not allow them. All have been around children.
We think Poe should be adopted with his mom, Annabel Lee. They would make a great pair, with her being his role model. She is outgoing and LOVES to be held, he is the opposite but can be worked with (and we are doing that). Poe's motivator is canned food, he and his mom looovvee friskies turkey and cheese shreds. Anything turkey and chunky, really, they are not big on other flavors or pate. Interesting!
We sent Poe to one of our foster moms who specializes in a lot of hands-on work with the shy kittens we have. She had him for 5 days. Poe was a kitten who didn't like to be touched, held and wouldn't approach a human. Now he is fine with all that. It is unbelievable how they turn around with time, patience and gentleness. He is a purrbox when held. We still move slowly when approaching him and talk to him gently so his reactions all stay positive. We will speed up our actions with him gradually so we are sure he is at a comfortable pace with it. His new home needs to be very gradual with him like this and he will be a cuddlebug!
