Description:
This nice kitty's owner passed away. The man of the house didn't want him so kicked him out of the house onto the back porch.

Einstein was then given to another family, however they had other cats and Einstein had been alone for 5 years, so he did not fare well in a home with about a dozen cats, he was shell-shocked.

After that, he was taken in at a vet office and put in a cage in the front room for adoption. His new adopter was advised to change his prescription food and he immediately came down with a UTI (the food never should have been changed). Then the husband decided he didn't want a cat so they gave him up to rescue.

So, from April 2015 to October 27, 2016, poor Einstein has lost 3 homes and found no love anywhere. We are committed to find him a good loving home and we want it to be the purr-fect one, so we are going to ask a lot of questions before he is placed!

Note that during his time at the 3rd home we were told he was urinating outside the pan. This is a sign the cat is extremely unhappy, likely because cats are very sensitive and he knew the husband did not want him.

By the time Einstein came into rescue where he could have consistent TLC, he was defensive, hissy and unhappy and had no confidence (tail held low). He also acted out by urinating on the couch and bed. Thanks to almost 12 weeks of excellent care, and TLC, he has gained confidence and feels loved, and has not urinated outside the pan again. We do suggest his new family have plenty of time for him to adjust in a small room, and lots of TLC - we are hoping for an at-home family (retired, or work from home) so he can get a lot of attention. The picture of him stretched out on the carpet like he owns the place is a key sign that he is confident again.

Einstein does come with papers.

Einstein requires urinary prescription food (Royal Canin SO) and this is in his records so his new adopter can keep him on the same food at his new vet.

We are told Einstein does not enjoy brushing so he will need to be knocked under for any grooming. We have not confirmed this....and we hope to be able to work with him on that, we have a nice grooming comb for him. (Update: Einstein does get irritated by combing but our foster mom kept trying and he is much better with it now; however there is a grooming technique that must be used for proper combing - any groomer can show you how.)

Einstein is extremely sweet and quite a chunky boy -- he weighs in at around 15 pounds!!  He comes with a supply of his prescription dry food, canned food, and even prescription treats.

He has STUNNING blue eyes. His video shows him just coming out of the carrier at his new foster home, he smells the other couple of kitties so that's why he is a little growly but we did get a good closeup of his eyes!

UPDATE: We were concerned because Einstein doesn't like to be combed, so we took him to the animal chiropractor (yes there are animal chiro's) at Coastal Animal Hospital. And yes, he was a mess, now he is loosened up. Large cats can be picked up incorrectly and if they squirm it can really put their spine out of whack. Also an additional finding is that he has loose kneecaps so he should be on a glucosamine supplement.

UPDATE: after 3 months of patient and consistent work with Einstein, the foster mom has him fully integrated into the household with 3 other cats. He is now confident again, good with cats and older kids, and ready for a forever home.

We are checking with his previous owners to see if they had dogs. We don't know if he was ever around any dogs.
