Description:

DOB appx 3/15/09, DSH tortie tuxedo. Spayed Female.

Mandie was found in the parking lot at Publix on SR524 in Cocoa.

The person who rescued Mandie called around and was sent to NACC which is the county (kill) shelter off Flake Road in Titusville. The lady was upset to learn later that this shelter has only a 2% adoption rate! We agreed to pull the kitten.

Update: Due to Mandie's chronic URI from being at the county shelter, she has intense nasal passage scarring and will always "snore" when she breathes. We give her a daily over-the-counter pill that is “kitty vitamin c” to keep her recurring kitty cold under control. If she misses a dose she drops right into an upper respiratory. We consider Mandie to be special needs. She takes her pill extremely easily....she seems to know they keep her healthy.

Mandie would prefer to be the only kitty - she tends to swat other kitties away so she can hog all the attention!

UPDATE: Mandie's nasal scarring and breathing has become worse over time, so we have begun acupuncture treatments. She has improved a bit so we are continuing these and starting her on some Chinese herbs. See her acupuncture pictures!

UPDATE 9/1/12: Mandie went to her last acupuncture treatment and at the time was showing symptoms of severe infection. The vet xrayed her sinuses, flushed her sinuses, and took some samples to send to the lab. The results are in: She has a bacteria which is very easy to treat so hopefully this will cure her nasal issues once and for all!

UPDATE 1/19/13: Mandie's nasal congestion was cured however she does have Stomatitis so we have had her teeth pulled and she is recovering nicely.
