This kitten we need help with is a little girl who was stray, and hit at 45 mph by a car on 8/6/09. The car didn't stop.

Our volunteer, Erin, saw it happen out of the corner of her eye. Erin ranout into traffic after the kitten - it had crawled up in the chassis of a flatbed landscaping truck at a traffic light!! Now, this is Floridaand at 2pm in the afternoon, the pavement is really blistering hot. Thetruck had to block traffic until she got the kitten out.

We had x-rays taken, and the vet found a 2 inch hernia in its diaphragm (which was very life threatening). This was repaired the same day.

If the kitten survives (it is doing very well but we have to wait 2 weeks forthe hernia to be healed), the vet will fix its broken rear femur, and somewhere along the line she will be spayed! The broken femur will require FHO surgery (to remove the femur head just like on a dogwith hip dysplasia).

The kitten is doing well after the diaphragm surgery. She is 14 weeks old, a bobtail smoke tabby. She is stray, so is now having to trust people for the first time ever. She is eating and drinking just fine. She is a little messy in the litter pan because she cannot balance herself to go potty due to her broken leg. Poor thing!
DOB appx June 1, 2009, this is a DSH smoke torbie manx female. Yes she has a little stubby tail, and she is a smoke (charcoal color) tabby, with some beige stripes, so she's a torbie!  Awesome coloring!

She is doing well after her surgery to fix her hernia. She has got used to humans now, with all the handling we have done, medicating, etc.

Her leg surgery is done as of 8/21. We kept her quiet while it was healing.  Widget went back for her checkup and stitches out, they had to put her under to take out the stitches, so she was spayed at the same time.

She is now in a bathroom and able to walk around. She did catch a little kitty cold so is getting over that, then we will put her with the other kittens to play -- and that will be like self-therapy for her leg.

Widget is now in with the other kittens to play. She is very shy (feral) but loves to be petted!!!!
